Small and friendly motivated interest group
Sifu James Cheung is a certified training instructor of Ving Tsun kung fu. Our class is a group of Ving Tsun lovers who practice Ving Tsun together to develop a skill to protect ourselves and to have fun. Our class is at a good size and every one in the class will get appropriate guidance and supervision to make regular progress.

Sifu James Cheung is the 1st generation disciple of late Master Wong Shun Leung, who was the direct disciple of Grandmaster Ip Man. Sifu James is thus the 2nd generation disciple of Grandmaster Ip Man. Sifu James started to learn Ving Tsun from Master Wong in mid 1970s. After the passing away of Master Wong, Sifu James has pursuited some further training from his Sihing Master Ng Chun Hong and Master Chan Kim Man in order to polish his Ving Tsun even better.
It is Sifu James's ambition to set up his Ving Tsun facility here in UK to pass on to his students the skills and techniques he has acquired from his many years of study and practice of Ving Tsun kung fu.
Ip Man - Wong Shun Leung lineage
Sifu James became interested in martial arts when he was a junior secondary school student, initially learning Judo before changing to Gojukai Karate because he found the style more interesting and practical. In mid 1970's,, a friend of Sifu James, who was a black belt in Korean Hapkido, recommended Sifu James to learn Ving Tsun from late Master Wong Shun Leung. Sifu James had committed to learn for some years and had made expeditious achievement. After the passing away of Master Wong, Sifu James also pursued some further training from Master Ng Chun Hong and Master Chan Kim Man in later days to further polish his techniques and skills.

Training classes for adults are being held at Bromley Tennis and Squash Club

Wednesday : 7:30 - 9:30 pm
Sunday : 10 - 12 am
There is also a children class being conducted for kids at 7+ at the same place. Training time is :

Assessment Standsrd
Assessment will be conducted with certificates issued
Level 1
Siu Nim Tau form. Basic stances and hand techniques. Shifting with vertical fist straight punch
Level 2
Theory and practical application of Siu Nim Tau. Chi sau techniques (single and double hands).
Level 3
Chum Kiu form. Basic application of Chum Kiu and elementary wooden dummy techniques.
Level 4
Theory and application of Chum Kiu form. Intermediate wooden dummy and fighting techniques.
Level 5
Bu Gee form. Advanced level of wooden dummy and fighting techniques.
Level 6
Theory and practical application of Biu Gee form and wooden dumy techniques.
Level 7
Luk Dim Pun Kwan (Six and Half Point Pole)
Level 8
Theory and practical application of the pole.
Level 9
Baat Cham Dou (Butterfly Knives)
Level 10
Theory and practical application of Baat Cham Dou (Butterfly Knives)
Training fees
Novice classes
Group lessons are provided at the time and venue below :
Wednesday : 7:30 - 9:30 pm
Sunday : 10 am - 12 noon

Pay-as-you-go at £5 for each training lesson for the first 2 months. Thereafter, if you are happy to continue, training fee will be back to normal rate as below :

Advanced classes
Trainings are aimed at :
- Review on the principles and theories of Ving Tsun system '
- Analysis of the 3 forms and wooden dummy ;
- Advanced techniques ;
- Fighting tactics.
£15 per lesson (Thursday 8 - 9 pm)
Private one to one training lessons and weapons training are provided on request. Time is flexible and separate fees apply. You are welcome to contact us for further information.
